“Right to Read” Education Forum at NRHS on Saturday, April 5

The New Rochelle NAACP Education Forum and the NRHS Black Student Leadership Conference will be hosting an Education Forum at New Rochelle High School on Saturday, April 5, featuring the film “The Right to Read.” The film will be shown at 8:30 am and will be followed by a panel discussion and student-led workshops. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

Along with the forum, the NAACP Education Committee is sponsoring a contest for K-8 students based on Frederick Douglass’s statement, “Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” Students can submit responses to questions designed for their grade levels in the form of an artistic poster, a poem or spoken word presentation, or a recorded song or dance. Submissions should be emailed to nrnaacpedcomm@gmail.com no later than March 31. Prizes will be awarded at the Education forum on April 5.
