“Enough Is Enough” Calls for Public to Speak Out at March 10 Hearing on Development
Enough Is Enough, a community organization urging a pivot to “smart development” in New Rochelle, has called for a large turnout for a March 10 public hearing at which the City Council will consider a proposed amendment to the downtown development plan, including the construction of another 2800 residential units.

In a statement, Enough Is Enough said the amendment “will set the tone for development for the next several years” and provides “a window of opportunity to effect change.”
In recent months, the city has said it would “re-examine and update” its redevelopment plans in order to learn the lessons of the past ten years. But Enough Is Enough says the amendment promises “more of the same.”
Among other changes, Enough Is Enough is demanding that tax breaks be limited only to projects that provide substantial benefit to the community, a reduction in building height limits, and a requirement for increased public green spaces.
“They’re not doing nearly enough,” the statement says. “They’ve opened the door for us, and now we need to kick it in!”
Enough Is Enough is asking New Rochelle residents to speak out on the new development plan at the hearing at City Hall on Tuesday, March 10, at 7 pm, or to submit written comments.
