Call for More Affordable Housing, Govt. Transparency at CDBG Meeting
The City of New Rochelle held a meeting at Bethesda Baptist Church on Thursday, February 2, 2023 to gain input on the city’s five year housing plan and possible uses of the anticipated CDBG and HOME funds totaling almost $2,000,000.
When opened up for community input, people offered impassioned narratives of how the city has routinely asked for input on these matters and then did not implement their suggestions for spending federal dollars. Overwhelmingly, residents said that housing costs are too high for tenants and property owners alike and the city needs to take a hard look at how their decisions impact everyone, and not just the wealthy.
